BLOOD PRESSURE AND CHOLESTEROL SCREENINGS

AACHAC in partnership with the American Heart Association will hold its annual Blood Pressure and Cholesterol Screenings at 14 church sites during the months of February and March (see the Current Events for specific dates and locations). According to the American Heart Association, African Americans are at greater risk for cardiovascular disease than any other population group in the United States. The tendency to develop high blood pressure at an earlier age and a greater severity of hypertension at any age makes African Americans 11/2 times more likely to die from heart disease.

Two newly developed handouts will be distributed to each participant:"You Can’t Afford To Skip Your Medicine" and "White Coat Syndrome."
