AACHAC's ANNUAL SUNDAY BLOOD PRESSURE
AND CHOLESTEROL SCREENINGS

The African American Community Health Advisory Committee (AACHAC) will hold its 5th Annual Sunday Blood Pressure and Cholesterol Screenings at thirteen church sites in San Mateo and San Francisco Counties (see locations) during the months of February and March. This project is a collaborative effort between the College of San Mateo nursing students, medical students from Stanford University, and AACHAC’s nurses and health educators.

At each screening, participants will be encouraged to enroll in the University of California Cooperative Extension’s “Learn-by-Mail” nutrition education and physical activity program. Over the past three years, more than 600 people have enrolled in this six-part program.

Additionally, participants will receive a packet of educational materials on hypertension and cardiovascular disease including "You Can’t Afford To Skip Your Medicine" and "White Coat Syndrome” (click the links to download the handouts).

For more information about the “Learn-by-Mail” program contact the chairperson at grbrown@ucdavis.edu
